The Story Behind the Song Light Em Up

Most of my life, I've been on the stage or a spotlight. I've done acting and musicals and theatre as well as a movie (Rudy). And I know the sort of feeling to have the hot lights from the stage shining down on you. It's a total experience and a rush - especially when things are clicking.

I was in the process of finishing my music studio in my basement. The amount of work up to that point - about 300 hours total - was incredible. I was starving to write some music since my creative brain had to be put on hold. And I was ready to write some songs in my repertoire that show my playful, energizing, and enthusiasm for life.

I had a big show coming up, so I started by trying some new sounds out on my computer. I found a groove that felt really good to me. Soon after, came a melody rising through my mind. Before long, I knew that I had a song I wanted to call "Light Em Up." The lyrics quickly fell into place after that.

This song honors the passion in me to be on the stage - to perform, to entertain, and to explode with the energy I want to release into the room and the world. I love this song and I hope you will too.

Best,
